My Winter Travels, Part 10: Zhujiajiao

Zhujiajiao Picasa Photo Album
During our time in Shanghai, we took a day trip to Zhujiajiao. Zhujiajiao is an ancient water town. I've never been to Venice, but Zhujiajiao reminds me of pictures I've seen of Venice. Canals run throughout town, with bridges crossing over them and boats in them. It's not a particularly well known place (Lonely Planet doesn't even mention it, and LP is consistently rated as the best guide book on China). Josh, one of the other foreign teachers at my school, told me about it, and it was well worth the visit. I think it was one of my favorite places we went on the trip. If you ever visit Shanghai, be sure to visit Zhujiajiao. It's better than all of Shanghai's main sights combined. There's not much else to say about it, so I'll jump straight to the pictures:

These canals run throughout town.

This is one of more than 30 bridges in town.

These boats where everywhere.

The next day, we took a day trip to Suzhou.
